Fixtures revealed for CPL 2020, Zouks to start off against Jamaica Tallawahs

It’s official! The fixtures for season seven of the Caribbean Premier League have been announced, and Saint Lucia Zouks are set to begin their campaign against Barbados Tridents. 

CPL 2020 is set to begin on August 18, with the first game being between Guyana Amazon Warriors and the Trinbago Knight Riders. Later in the same day, last season’s winners Barbados Tridents will be playing against St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. 

Saint Lucia Zouks however will have to wait till August 19 for their first game, where they will face the Rovman Powell led Jamaica Tallawahs at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy. Following that, the Zouks are set to face champions Barbados Tridents the next day with games against St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Guyana Amazon Warriors coming next. The Zouks will also end their group stage campaign with a game against Jamaica Tallawahs on September 6. 

Two venues have been finalized for the 2020 Caribbean Premier League- the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba and the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain. Most days are set to be double headers with teams playing at 10am and 5:30pm (local time) respectively.

The tournament will be played behind closed doors in a bio-secure environment with a series of stringent protocols in place to protect those involved in the tournament and the wider population from the spread of the COVID-19 virus. 

Damien O’Donohoe, the Hero CPL’s CEO, is excited about the upcoming season. “This year will be a different CPL, but the standard will be higher than ever. We have seen the appetite for live sport since it has returned after a prolonged absence, and the interest in CPL will be higher than ever with it being the first franchise T20 tournament to return.”

We are delighted that we are able to deliver a tournament that is ensuring the safety of the public and the players and that will be of such a high standard.”
