Kings clash with the Knights again as Saint Lucia target league double

History beckons for the Saint Lucia Kings as they now have the chance to do the double over the Trinbago Knight Riders for the very first time, when the two lock horns once again on Tuesday. Faf Du Plessis picked up his first win as captain of the Kings on Sunday after a thrilling encounter with TKR, and would be hoping to build on that momentum going forward in the 2021 HERO Caribbean Premier League.

Head-to-head

Trinbago Knight Riders

Saint Lucia Kings

11 wins

3 wins

The Trinbago Knight Riders continue to boast a solid head-to-head record, but momentum is on the side of the Kings having come out on top in their previous encounter. With the games coming thick and fast, the Saint Lucia Kings would hope to add another win to their kitty come Tuesday.

Watch out for

Tim David continued his impressive start to life in the CPL, as he was the top scorer for his franchise for the second game running. The Singaporean cricketer seems to have mastered playing according to the team situation despite it still being early days, and his ability to counter attack makes him a real weapon for the Saint Lucia Kings.

Wahab Riaz completed the perfect redemption following a dismal outing in his first game of the season, as he kept his cool under pressure against the champions to get the Kings off the mark on the points table. The Pakistani bowler has plenty of tricks up his sleeve, and his experience would be a big asset for the franchise going forward.

Opponent Corner

Tim Seifert gave the Kings an almighty scare in the previous game with his quickfire cameo towards the end of the innings. The Kiwi wicketkeeper batsman might hold the key to the TKR in that middle-order, and could be a game changer on his day.

The champions boast plenty of other changers as well, with the likes of Lendl Simmons, Kieron Pollard with the bat, and Sunil Narine and Isuru Udana with the ball. The Saint Lucia Kings would therefore have to be at their best yet again if they are to win again come Tuesday.

Probable XI: Rakheem Cornwall, Andre Fletcher (wk), Faf Du Plessis (c), Mark Deyal, Roston Chase, Tim David, Keemo Paul, Wahab Riaz, Jeavor Royal, Alzarri Joseph, Obed McCoy.

The Kings wouldn’t want to change their winning combination too much, but we could see Obed McCoy come in for Usman Qadir, to add another seam option for this game.No changes anticipated in the batting line-up.

NOTE:The aforementioned line-up is an educated guess at best, and the final decision rests with the captain and the team management depending on various external factors.
